"I went to Shanghai to curate a sound project of Getitloud 07 in April 2007. It was there,
Zhu Ying showed me Qiu Jiang Lu - a market area on a small street for cheap
electronics, computer hardware and secondhand machines. An ear full of music and
confabulation, light rail metro passing above, a quiet place hidden in a hill of
electromechanical components… I like these sounds just as I like secondhand goods.
Shanghai Zendai MoMA invited me to participate in the public art project “Intrude: Art &
Life 366?. I decided to recycle the sounds of Qiu Jiang Lu, produce a CD, and then sell it
at Qiu Jiang Lu. It was only there that I publishing and circulated it. The CD captured the
fashion and capital of the cheap Qiu Jiang Lu. The sounds came and returned to where
they came from." (Yan Jun)
